Background
In December 2025 we invited Rotherwood recruitment services to visit our site to discuss temporary staffing support within our assembly department.
Temporary staffing requirement
We requested ten temporary employees to begin work in our assembly department in January 2026. Five people in week one and five people in week two. The anticipated placement period was approximately eight months.
Candidate Criteria
The temporary employees were to meet the specific requirements below.
- Previous assembly experience
- Suitable understanding of and to be able to communicate in English.
- Ability to support production requirements over the agreed period including shift working and overtime as required.
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
The delivery
Sally and Hannah took on board our needs and in January 2026 as promised the candidates arrived over the 2 week per period. All seemed very keen to start work with us on the shift patterns that we allocated to them.
The initial brief to them was they would only be supporting the current permanent assembly operatives by building sub-assemblies and other jobs that required minimal training.
It is really refreshing to see a group of people who are on a temporary contract turning up for work every day on time regardless of poor public transport links in this area.
On the back of the keenness to learn, shown by the temporary employees, it was not long before we started training them in the more intricate assembly processes enabling the department to increase its output.
This group of people have proved their worth in every aspect of the roles that they have been tasked with.
We are now in July, and we have 8 of the original candidates, and 2 replacements, as we lost 2 of the originals to natural losses (permanent employment elsewhere). This speaks for itself about the quality of the employees supplied by Rotherwood recruitment.
Communication
The communication between Rotherwood and Piolax has been exemplary. On any occasion where there has been communication from any employee, then Rotherwood emailed us promptly. If I need to contact Rotherwood there is always someone available.
The staff at Rotherwood have proven to be extremely helpful, dependable, friendly, and approachable and most importantly Professional, responsive, and have shown a true understanding of business needs.
Going forwards, if we need support from a recruitment agency, Rotherwood will be our first port of call.
