About the Role
Help Shape a Brand-New Children’s Home from the Beginning
Rotherwood Cares is recruiting an experienced Senior / Team Leader to join an exciting brand-new children’s residential service in Nelson.

Working alongside an experienced management team, you will help shape the culture, standards, and development of the home from the very beginning. About the Role
As a Senior / Team Leader, you will support the Registered Manager with the daily operation of the home, providing leadership, guidance, and support to the care team.
You will take an active role in ensuring young people receive high-quality, trauma-informed, and person-centred care, while promoting positive outcomes, emotional wellbeing, independence, and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading shifts and supporting the effective day-to-day running of the home
- Providing high-quality, therapeutic, and person-centred care
- Acting as a Key Worker and contributing to individual care planning
- Supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs
- Promoting independence, education, confidence, and life skills
- Implementing positive behaviour support strategies
- Supporting medication administration following appropriate training
- Completing accurate care records, reports, and daily documentation
- Mentoring and supporting Residential Support Workers
- Maintaining safeguarding, health and safety, and regulatory standards
- Building positive relationships with young people, families, and external professionals
Shift Pattern
The home operates on a 5-week rolling rota, including:
- Two 14-hour shifts
- Three rostered days off
- Day shifts, night shifts, weekends, and sleep-ins
- Overtime opportunities available
Salary & Benefits
- £29,000 – £36,550 per annum
- Enhanced sleep-in payments (average additional earnings of approximately £3,300 per year)

About You
We are looking for an experienced Senior / Team Leader who has:
Essential:
- Previous experience working within a Children’s Residential Home
- Minimum 1 year’s experience within children’s residential care
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people
- A flexible approach to shifts, weekends, and sleep-in duties
Desirable:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or currently working towards)
- Experience leading shifts or supervising a care team
- Knowledge of safeguarding, Ofsted expectations, and therapeutic approaches
